FAQ

The busiest times for moving companies are during the summer months, May 15 - September 15.

The end of these months are usually the busiest. If you have some flexibility in your schedule, provide the mover with a five day window for your move.

Try to provide the moving companies with as much notice as possible, especially if you are moving during the busy season as noted above. Six weeks from the actual date is not too early for estimators to come into your home to give you an estimate for your move.

Try to decide which mover you will use four weeks from your actual move date. This timeframe can be shortened in the off peak season which is September 15 through May 15.

Contact us with any specific questions you might have.

The cost of a move is based on many factors: weight, distance, length of time and the manpower involved. The best option is to contact us to get a free estimate. Don't let just the price be your deciding factor. It should be about getting your family and items safely to your new residence.

Packing is one of the most important aspects of your move. It is recommended that you use proper moving boxes. Remember the heavier the item the smaller the box. You should use packing paper, do not use printed newspaper as the ink could get on to your items. Also you can separate fragile objects with sheets, blankets, pillows and towels.

Most moving companies should also provide moving blankets at no additional cost. Fill in empty spaces of your boxes to minimize movement during transit. Mark your boxes so the movers will no which room they belong.

You can leave your drawers filled with clothing and linens. Please empty anything breakable or of value. It is recommended that you take your important papers and put them in a place that should be easy to access. If you prefer some moving company's provide a packing service.

Tip depending on the size and difficulty of the move. The average tip for local moves is 7-12% of the total bill.

An honest day's job should not go unnoticed.

Moving Tips

Before you settle into your new home on the first night, you’ll want to have all of your essentials close at hand. Make a “First Night Box” for each family member: paper towels, phone chargers, scissors, snacks, disposable plates and cups, bedding, a night-light. Give us a call for a free estimate and how we can create more excitement and less chaos.

Make it a little bit easier on yourself by cutting back on excess clutter as much as possible. You’ll have less to pack, less to move, and less to unpack.

Start your life in your new space with a clean slate.

Whether it’s multi-colored packing labels, different colored masking tape, or even post-it notes give each room its own color to help keep you and your movers organized. This will save your movers a ton of time during the unloading and unpacking process.

If your TV’s are mounted make sure they are off the walls, wrapped and packed, if possible, to ensure 100% safety to your items.

Fill in gaps within your packed boxes with packing paper, clothing, foam peanuts, bubble wrap, or blankets. This will help prevent your items from shifting around during the move.

Save space when packing your clothing by rolling, not folding your items. If the clothes can stay on a clothes hanger, stack them and cover with a trash bag poking a hole in the top for the hanger. You can leave clothing and linens in your drawers only! Pack all other loose and valuable items.

Bring a doorstopper with you to help the unloading process go smoothly for you and your movers. There will be a lot of back and forth through the front door.

Please be aware of any pets you may have. If possible, keep them out of the way of the movers and watch that they don't run out of any open doors.

On moving day, make sure the moving truck has a designated parking spot and area close to the home or building to ensure a smooth transition from truck to door.
